- Seminal Manhattan danceparty Shelter touches down in London for a new residency in the beating heart of Brixton. Legendary DJ Timmy Regisford is one fo the most prolific DJs and remixers on the underground network. What sets Timmy apart is his ability to straddle two worlds: In addition to owning and running Clubshelter and holding down an unparalleled 18 year weekly downtown New York, for the last quarter century Timmy has also been an A&R man for major record labels like Motown, Atlantic, MCA and Dreamworks. Artists that he has personally signed have gone on to garner millions of sales worldwide (EG Eric B and Rakim’s debut album which sold 1.9m copies). Timmy has also been an instrumental influence in the careers of artists like Ten City, Soul II Soul, Jonny Gill and Blaze. Of more recent note he was fundamental in the inception of Fela The Musical which graced Broadway and London’s own Southbank centre and Sadlers Wells in 2011.
Trippin Records have played an important role in bringing the underground, need-to-know culture of Shelter to Europe: it was courtesy of the label’s appreciation Shelter that Timmy first played a 12 hour set in Europe providing a true representation of the Shelter experience; followed by the 18th birthday celebrations at Ministry of Sound in 2009 and now delivering a new residency into the natural fit that is multi- cultural Brixton.
