On Saturday May 30th 2009 New York City’s ClubShelter touch down in London for an extra-ordinary showcase event: Trippin Records present 18 years of Shelter at London’s legendary Ministry of Sound, itself marking 18 years since the doors first opened.

Shelter is a music group that has had a profound effect upon thousands of people not just in New York and the USA, but also reaching out across oceans to shine a light into the dark urban spaces of metropolis from London to Glasgow, Paris to Rome, South Africa to Japan.

Ministry of Sound and the Manhattan danceparty are united by a common root; the legendary Paradise Garage. Whilst the London venue inherited elements of the soundsystem and was actually designed brick by brick as a duplicate of the Garage (even as far as the location of the original booth in the club), Shelter inherited the Garage’s mailing list. In a pre-email era this physical mailing list was gold-dust to any aspiring party in Manhattan, and became the foundation upon which the Shelter itself established her own ‘legendary’ status.

To mark 18 years of these seminal institutions in House music, Trippin Records have put together an incredible line up featuring an unprecedented live show:

Resident DJ Timmy Regisford will be playing all night long in the Box: the only way to experience what Timmy can really offer to a dancefloor. Famed for his marathon sets stretching all through Saturday night and well into Sunday afternoon, it is during this ‘afterhours’ period that Shelter really comes alive as dancers take over the club and the music takes on a whole new energy. Body & Soul itself was only born out of the fact that Shelter closed for a period and the Sunday dancers were left with nowhere to party.

The sparkle to the proceedings is provided courtesy of a worldwide exclusive live performance from Quentin Harris alongside Atlanta soul sensation Donnie (Motown / Soul Thought) performing one of the great Shelter records of recent times: Cloud 9. While Quentin is one of the most respected and sought after DJs on the international circuit, it is less commonly known that the Detroit born prodigy is not only an adept electronic producer but also a classically trained musician across many different instruments. For the first time ever he will perform live and where better to make this debut than the Ministry of Sound. As if that was not enough, Trippin have really gone the extra mile to fuel the party atmosphere by flying in Motown star Donnie to sing live the Quentin Harris remixes of Rocketship and Cloud 9….the latter of which was played a record 12 times by Timmy at the Shelter the night the record was finished. With this crowd favourite live show coming late in the night you can expect the roof to be literally rocked off its rafters as Trippin deliver one of the events of the year to London’s club calendar.

Long time Shelter associate Jazzie B’s Soul II Soul take over the bar alongside the late night pleasures of Club Shelter's favourite UK son Phil Asher, with Restricted Access / Syam Music main man Ben Johnson and Trippin’s Dominic Versell & Abi Apampa. Jazzie’s world famous career was picked up on early by Timmy who signed the rising star’s UK act immediately to Atlantic where he was working as A&R at the time. On an early visit to New York, when it was announced over the microphone to the Shelter dancefloor that Jazzie B was in the house the crowd screamed and the volume level literally went off the meter. 18 years on catch this unique opportunity to experience the vibe as the two combine across two rooms.

With official Shelter CDs and merchandise, a limited edition commemorative booklet, Restricted Access give-aways, Trippin Records have cured every detail with the same love customary in the various Manhattan homes the club has had over the years. With so much care and attention invested in the music itself, Trippin Records push the boundaries even further in order to provide the authentic New York experience to Europe: for this event only they are flying in Integral Sound and their custom designed Shelter mixer, cross-overs and isolators to tune the massive Ministry system to Shelter specification. Everyone associated with the event will be working hard to bring you

For those who have never had the chance to visit Shelter in New York or catch this brilliant talent together under one roof before, here is your chance to experience the original feeling that has made the Ministry of Sound a legendary venue in House music as Shelter get set to rock the roof off with a night that promises to be the only opportunity to gain the full Shelter experience this side of the Atlantic.
